Happy Superbowl Sunday! I’m not enough of a sports fan to know which team to cheer for, but I’m using the game as an excuse to get together with my friends, drink cheap beer, and eat a buffet of foods covered in various sauces. (Image courtesy nfl.com)
Here are my recommendations for what to read, listen to, eat, and do from my adventures this week.
READ. I recently finished editing a handful of a friend’s blog posts about her experiences with love and relationships. It got me thinking about how each of us has wildly different expectations of our relationships. A few days later I stumbled across a great article that makes a case for seeing your significant other as your business partner.
“You don’t own your partner’s heart. You don’t own your partner’s genitals. Sure, they let you use them sometimes. But never, ever, mistake your partner for anything other than a full and complete person who owns themselves and their parts. What you do own jointly is your assets.”
LISTEN TO. WBUR’s Modern Love podcast. It’s not all mushy, gooshy love stories–in fact, it’s rarely mushy, gooshy love stories. If you’ve ever laughed and then suddenly found yourself crying for a reason you can’t quite explain, Modern Love is for you.
EAT. Cookie and Kate’s Kale, Clementine and Feta salad. I had two bunches of kale in the fridge that were beginning to look questionable, so I needed to use a lot of leafy greens tout de suite. This salad is so tasty that I ate all four servings right out of the bowl, then immediately made another batch with my second bunch of kale. Protip: massage kale to remove some of the bitterness.
DO. Use coffee filters instead of a rag or paper towel when cleaning mirrors and windows. Spray Windex, wipe off with coffee filter and voila– no lint, no streaks! (If you’re not a coffee drinker, you can also use a sheet of newspaper.)
WATCH. Bonus! The Superbowl commercials were disappointing this year, but DQ had a great one on during the Puppy Bowl. (Which was adorable and shame on you if you missed it!)
