Happy Sunday! Here are my recommendations for what to read, listen to, eat, and do from my adventures this week.
READ. This compelling piece of accidental photojournalism from an Imgur.com member’s recent medical mission trip to North Korea. It both confirms and contradicts many of the things we’ve heard about North Korea, and is well worth the read. Yes, it is even worth waiting for all the images to load.
LISTEN TO. Episodes 44-55 of the podcast You Must Remember This, which detail Charles Manson’s rise to prominence in old Hollywood. It’s a truly fascinating look at the cultural, social, and economic factors that contributed to Manson’s murders in 1969.
EAT. Kiwano, also known as the horned melon. I added kiwano to our Thanksgiving dinner’s exotic fruit and cheese plate and was extremely surprised by the mildness of the fruit– the first bite tastes like a cucumber but a few seconds later a sweeter banana flavor bursts in your mouth. Mmm-mmm.
DO. Before you tuck into bed tonight, spend a few minutes with your legs up the wall. It’s a simple yoga pose that relieves stiff, sore legs at the end of the day and offers more restful sleep.
